Privacy

If you make an account

• Your email address, so we can send you a sign-in button. We don't send newsletters unless you ask for them.
• Your first name and, if you choose, your town. These show next to your tips.
• If you add them, the birth month and year of your kids. No names. We use them only to pick things for their ages and to send a heads-up before birthdays, and never show them to anyone. Remove them any time in your account.
• The places you save and the tips you write.
• If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email and first name. Nothing else, and we never post anything to Google.

Kid businesses

A parent or guardian signs up and owns the page. The page shows the kid's first name, age if you add it, and town. Never a last name, address, school, phone or email. Photos are redrawn before they are saved, which removes the hidden location details phones add. When a family uses Ask, the message goes to the parent's email, and they only see your email if you write back.

Businesses

If you claim a business, we keep your email and the changes you send. Payments for Featured are handled by Stripe. We never see or keep your card number. Some place photos are free public photos from Wikimedia Commons and Openverse, shown with the photographer's name.

The weekly email

If you sign up, we keep your email until you stop the emails. Every email has a link to stop them.

Tips

We read every tip before it shows. Approved tips show your first name, your town if you chose one, and the month you wrote it. Never your email.

Everyone else

We count how many times each place is viewed, called or visited, so businesses know the site helps them. Those counts don't say who you are. Internet addresses used to slow down spam are kept only as a scrambled code.

Deleting your account

Go to your account and press Delete my account. Your saved places, tips, name, kids’ ages and any kid business page are deleted right away. Questions? Email hello@familylocale.com. See also our terms.
